Rodney Pallonby was a MechWarrior serving in the DCMS in the early thirty-first century. He was stationed on Verthandi during the closing months of the Kuritan occupation of that world.

Overview[edit]

Sergeant Pallonby's BattleMech lance was detailed to provide an escort for a column of female prisoners headed for the Regis spaceport, immediately following the eradication of Verthandi's civilian administration at the orders of Governor Masayoshi Nagumo.[1] In addition to his own Phoenix Hawk, Pallonby commanded a Wasp, a Stinger, and a second Phoenix Hawk; the detachment's radio designation was Escort Two-Four.

Pallonby and his comrades came under a coordinated attack from Verthandian rebels led by Grayson Carlyle of the Gray Death Legion. The ambush was staged in such a fashion as to draw the escorts away from their vulnerable captives. Pallonby's 'Mech suffered penetrating damage to its rear torso, affecting its jump jets, and the other Phoenix Hawk had its head crushed during close combat with Carlyle's Shadow Hawk.[2]

Outnumbered and outgunned by the rebels, Pallonby had no other option but to surrender.
