Plot summary
From the viewpoint of Major Tara Lucas, the story narrates how Wolf's Dragoons' famous Zeta Battalion is lost in the Dragoons' ill-fated attack on Mars. Weakened from losses during planetfall and against hostile environmental conditions, strong enemy forces and even orbital bombardment from enemy WarShips, Zeta Battalion nevertheless relentlessly and stubbornly continues the attack, knowing that they cannot turn back. In command after the death of Colonel Jamison, Tara Lucas rallies the troops for a last frontal assault.
