History
The unit was founded in 2929.
Fourth Succession War
The command was at the start of the war in employment of the Draconis Combine. They were relocated to Wheel and had only marginal conventional support assets (10 milita regiments) after the regular troops were shifted to Luthien for an investigation about the bombing of the capital. The LCAF high command selected Wheel as target during Operation Götterdämmerung. Two seasoned mercanery commands (1st Narhail's Raiders + Hansen's Roughriders were tasked to capture the world for the Commonwealth. The CO of the Tooth asked the invading units to fight the battles only with Mechs, which in responsed accepted the challenge. The fight continued over 72 hours and with the encirclement of the defenders a cease fire were held. The Tooth of Ymir retreat offworld. [1]
The Andurien Secession[2]
Under the pay of the Duchy of Andurien and under the command of Colonel Heller, elements of the unit attacked and seized the Capellan worlds of Primus and Prix on September 13th, 3030. These were some of the first engagements of the war and meant to shock the CCAF. The invasions encountered little resistance and there were no significant battles.
After these small operations were completed with little losses, the unit was moved to reinforce Andurien forces on the world of Betelgeuse against the Warrior House Kamata on February 9th, 3031. The mercenary unit quickly pushed the Warrior House forces back and seized a large piece of planetary real estate, however they were unable to land a killing blow against Capellan defenders. The Duchy of Andurien would continue to build up forces on world in an effort to complete its conquest. In early 3032, many believed that fighting would soon end after nearly three years of conflict because so much force was being brought to bear. However, on May 9th 3032, all five regiments of the McCarron's Armored Cavalry attacked. By May 23rd that same year, no Andurien forces, including the Tooth of Ymir, were left on the planet as they had fled with significant losses.
The Tooth of Ymir then moved to the world of Andurien for rest and refit after their escape. They would sit out the next few years of the Secession until called upon in 3037 to assist Duchy forces on Xanthe III. Initially, the arrival of the mercenaries pushed the odds in the favor of Andurien forces. However, these hopes were quickly dashed as enough FWLM units soon arrived to gain a permanent advantage. After a bloody last stand at New Barstow, the unit headed to Outreach as their contract was up and Colonel Heller had been killed during their escape. Their new leader, Colonel Susan Shadwell, would reject all offers about continuing their employment with the Duchy of Andurien and sit out the rest of the Secession.
Chaos March
The command found employment for the next two decades by their former enemies the Capellan Confederation [3] [4] and defend three planets at the same time. With the increased hostility at the Fed-Com border Operation Guerro was started. The unit was teamed up with Stapelon's Grenadiers to retake Sarna from the Federated Commonwealth back. The planetary defenders (Grims Determination + Kaifeng SMM + 1st Battalion Sarna Martial Academy) outnumbered the invaders and with the air superiority on their side the Cappelans had a difficult time. The Grenadiers suffer serious loses during the fight and had no other choice to abone the planet. The remaining merc command tried to hold the advancing defenders but where surrounded. The Tooth surrender to the planetary goverment. They offer them a new contract. The leader of the Tooth accepted. The command was now task to liberate Sakhalin [a near by planet] from the capellan aggressors. Sakhalin was defended by three companies from Kingston's Legionnaires, but with their superior numbers the Sarna units defeated the capellan in short time. The Legionnaires retreat back to capellan space. [5]
Jihad
Came under fire from friendly ComStar forces on Epsilon Indi in the early confusion of the Jihad; no proof could later be found that they had intended to turn on their employers. The battered unit wisely surrendered. Having lost the strength stipulated by their contract they then reportedly terminated it and headed to Arc-Royal to rebuild. The unit was rebuilt by speciality salvage group Skibinski's Salvage. Arc-Duke Morgan Kell send the rebuilt unit to Zanderij in 3070. In June the unit faced Clan Jade Falcon's 305th Assault Cluster from world of Morges. The unit battled the Falcon cluster for nearly 2 months until unexpected arrival of a Steel Viper Cluster. The Falcons after losing their leader in earlier engagnment with Tooth, left the world. The "Steel Vipers" turning out to be mercenary unit Greenburg's Godzillas which came to join them.[6]
Officers
Susan Brownell Shadwell assumed controll over the Tooth during the Andurien Revolt. Major Ivan Petrov leads the only assault Company and is know for his calm in action.[7]
