Victor Vandergriff was a mid-31st century Lyran Solaris VII MechWarrior. He was a one-time contender for the Solaris VII Class 6 championship.
History
Early Solaris Years
Victor was part of the Skye Tigers Stables[1], he was billed as the stable's number one fighter in late 3055. During his early fighting years, he was among the elite fighters of the game world, and had high hopes of becoming the Champion of Solaris.
His stable owner, Duke Ryan Steiner, was using his Stable as means to excerise his political ambitions. Duke Steiner, decided to position Victor to confront his political aversary's friends along with the current Champion of Solaris, Kai Allard-Liao.
At a party in March 3056, hosted by Mandrinn Tormana Liao, Victor was introduced to the trio of Political scions including; Duchess Katrina Steiner-Davion, Kommandant Galen Cox and Lady Omi Kurita by his Stable owner, Duke Ryan Steiner. A war of words broken out between his Duke and Galen Cox. Victor stood betwen him and Cox where they had a disagreement that evolved over differiences from regular combat and the fights of Solaris. Cox said he wished to confront Victor, due to his not being licenced professional fighter it would not be allowed. However, Kai Allard-Liao, intervened and granted Cox a apperience licence to enable him to fight. To entice the satification the Duke to approve having the match moved, Kai propose move have a warmup match between him and Victor to following week with Cox as his partner in the fight.[2]
On April 9th, Victor was teamed with his stable's rising star Glenn Endenhoffer. In his fight, bring in Goliath GOL-3S BattleMech into labyrinth of Ishiyama arena. During course of the fight he switches off fighting against Kai's Penetrator and Cox's Crusader. Victor comes close to overcoming his opponents with his assault 'Mech. However, Kai skillifully destroys his 'Mech gyro, defeating him and then his team mate shortly after.[3]
Later Years
After this time he felt abandoned by his fans and stable. Victor lingered in lower classes fighting classes for years. Sometimes referred to by fans as a "Zombie", a Solaris VII slang for someone whom knowing knew he was already dead to the games. However, through determination not giving up he kept on fighting.[4]
By 3062, he develop bad case of paranoia. Through this paranoia, he began to win fights with his battered Banshee assault 'Mech.
On 15 August, began to the fight to the title, Solaris Grand Champion, but the duel with Michael Searcy is turned into open warfare in Solaris City. Vandergriff, began to lead fights for Loyalists for Katrina Steiner-Davion, reluctantly. He driven by his only desire he which cares about, which is to have re-match with Searny, since believed the FedSuns warrior was attempting to kill him.
By August 22, Michael Searcy lead a FedSuns force of 'Mechs and people to Loyalist held areas. There He and Searcy began to finish their duel. Searny lures Victor into the darken Steiner Arena to finish his match. Victor continued to fight without abandon, ignoring his 'Mech heat levels. The duel take brutal turn as Victor's Banshee began to loss containment and consume the itself with white hot fusion fire. In his last moments, Victor manages down Searny's Pillager, as his 'Mech explodes killing him, never letting go of his triggers.
