XLV Corps (or the Forty-Fifth Corps) was one of the seventy-two Corps that made up the Star League Defense Force. Prior to the collapse of the Star League XLV Corps was a fairly large corps consisting of seven divisions, nine independent regiments and an independent aero wing.[1]

In 2764 XLV Corps was part of the 18th Army assigned to the Outworlds Alliance Territorial State. They were the core of the 18th Army and were headquartered on Alpheratz. The Forty-fifth Corps was nicknamed the "Union Holders" by the citizens of the Alliance; The name refers to Operation UNION HOLD, the SLDF's campaign in the Alliance during the Reunification War. The Forty-fifth had difficulty getting along with citizens of the Alliance, but the SLDF High Command had changed commanders and hoped that this would alleviate the tensions.[2]
When the simmering violence and rebellion building in the Periphery erupted with the New Vandenberg Uprising and subsequent Periphery-wide uprising in 2765 XLV Corps were swept up in the violence along with the rest of the 18th Army.[1]
