The Twenty-second Royal Infantry Division was a part of the Star League Defense Force Regular Army. It was one of the SLDF's Royal units, which consisted of troops from the Terran Hegemony.
History[edit]
Reunification War[edit]
The unit was originally formed as the Twenty-second Royal Division during the creation of the SLDF in 2571 and was a part of the Star Guard Corps, an elite formation. The Twenty-second was tasked with the defense of Unity City.[4] When the Star Guard Corps was deployed to the Taurian Concordat in 2590,[5] only the Sixty-fourth Royal Brigade stayed behind as the First Lord's private guard.[4]
The Twenty-second was deployed to New Vandenburg in 2590–2591 before moving to the Hyades Cluster in 2592, where they remained until the end of the war in 2596.[5]
Amaris Civil War[edit]
In 2764, the Twenty-second Royal Infantry Division was stationed on New Oslo,[3][6] assigned as part of LXV Corps, Twentieth Army to the Periphery Military Region.[1] Their major duties were to support the movements of three Special Armed Services teams that roamed through the Twentieth Army's former area of responsibility in the Rim Worlds Republic.[3]
The Twenty-second was destroyed during the Periphery Uprising in 2765.[1]

- As an SLDF Infantry division, the Twenty-second would have been formed from two brigades of grunt infantry and a brigade of light BattleMech regiments.[7]
Notes[edit]
- ^ The Star League and Historical: Reunification War state that in 2575, the SLDF had ten full corps with each divided into three divisions and nine brigades in a set organizational structure.[8][9] The Twenty-second was listed as being a division of one of those corps.[10]
- It was confirmed by the author of Historical: Reunification War that, in general, the Divisions listed within The Star League can be traced directly to those Divisions listed within Historical: Reunification War.[2] Therefore, it can safely be assumed that the twenty-sixth-century Twenty-second Royal Division is the direct antecedent of the twenty-eighth-century Twenty-second Royal Infantry Division.
