Planetary Description[edit]

New Oslo has four continents: Nordmarka, Asker (where the capital city Albany is located), Akershus and Christiania.[1]

Planetary History[edit]

Early History[edit]

Colonists from the Federal Democratic Republics of Finland, Norway and Sweden emigrated in significant numbers after the end of the War Damage Tax payments levied on them as a part of the international rebuilding effort following the Second Soviet Civil War. Choosing a world far from Terra and the oppressive bureaucracy that went with it, the first colonists left in the mid-twenty-third century and within sixty years had settled Rasalhague and eight other nearby worlds[4] including New Oslo.[3] In the late twenty-third century these worlds created a joint government to oversee the development of the worlds, creating the Rasalhague Consortium. Contact with other interstellar nations led to the Consortium evolving into the short-lived Principality of Rasalhague, prior to the Principality being conquered by the Draconis Combine in the early to mid twenty-fourth century.[4]

Star League[edit]

New Oslo served as the headquarters world for the 20th Army (Star League) and XLVII Corps (Star League) of the Star League Defense Force after the "Birthday Proclamations" of 2755.[46][47]

Clan Invasion[edit]

New Oslo was a key strategic world to the Free Rasalhague Republic since it was the only FRR planet with a functioning BattleMech factory, owned and operated by Gorton, Kingsley, and Thorpe Enterprises. In July 3050 the planet was attacked by Clan Wolf as part of their Fourth Wave during Operation Revival. Due to a lack of available front-line troops Khan Ulric Kerensky decided to assault the planet using Epsilon Galaxy's aging trueborn and freeborn warriors: the Green Keshik along with the Dorbeng Garrison Cluster's Seventeenth, Eighteenth, Nineteenth and Twentieth Trinaries. In response to the invasion and in support of the 1st New Oslo Armored Division, the GKT Volunteer Regiment was formed, composed of Archer and Panther 'Mechs produced locally from the factory and piloted by retirees and veterans. The battle for control of the planet commenced at the Trysil Pass before moving on to Lillihammer and Ringsaker Valley, where pitched battles took place scant kilometers from the GKT factory. In the end Clan Wolf's Veteran Guards were victorious.[48]

Jihad[edit]

New Oslo was conquered by again during the Jihad when Clan Hell's Horses launched an invasion of Clan Wolf holdings in the Inner Sphere in early 3071, acquiring holdings for their own relocation to Spheroid space. New Oslo was seized by the Hell's Horses between the 7th and 14th of April 3071.[34]

Dark Age[edit]

At some point between the Jihad and the Second Combine-Dominion War New Oslo was added to the Rasalhague Dominion.[41][49] The loss of New Oslo's 'Mech factories cost the Horses two-thirds of their 'Mech production and forced them to rely upon more assault 'Mechs and conventional vehicles.[50]

In April 3147 New Oslo was one of three Dominion worlds attacked by the Hell's Horses during Operation NOYAN. The planet was successfully conquered and reincorporated into the Hell's Horses Occupation Zone.[45]
