The Seventh Royal BattleMech Division was a part of the Star League Defense Force Regular Army. It was one of the SLDF's Royal units, which consisted of troops from the Terran Hegemony.
History[edit]
The Seventh Royal BattleMech Division was the first SLDF unit to be composed almost entirely of Striker regiments. Populated mostly by light and medium BattleMech designs, the Striker formation was intended to harass enemy forces and exploit breakthroughs that other units created in enemy lines. A typical Striker regiment had aerospace fighters attached to it, but the Striker regiments of the Seventh exchanged all them for LAMs. Jump capable 'Mechs were also common in the unit with commanders going so far as to limit the number of non-jumping 'Mechs to a company. As it was so mobile, the Seventh was able to quickly intercept any enemy force on a world in a matter of hours.[2]
Though most divisions composed like the Seventh were used to pin down an enemy until heavier forces could arrive, the Seventh was used as a hunter-killer formation. The lighter units of the Seventh would identify an enemy's command structure and then heavier units from the Division would destroy it. This quickly caused their opponents to collapse as their leadership was gone.[2]
In 2764, the Seventh was stationed on Keid,[3] assigned as part of X Corps, First Army to the Terran Military Region and then transferred to District 1 of the Lyran Commonwealth Military Region in 2765 to take part in the New Vandenberg Uprising. The Seventh was destroyed during the Hegemony Campaign.[4]

As an SLDF BattleMech division, the Seventh would have been composed of two brigades of 'Mech regiments and a brigade of mechanized infantry regiments.[5]
