Black Dawn was a small mercenary unit, based in the Taurian Concordat, during the Civil War Era.[1]
History[edit]
The Black Dawn were, as of 3062, headquartered in the Century Building in the city of Gamecock on Charleston. Until that date, the largest employer they had worked for was the Taurian Concordat, having never been under contract to one of the Great Houses of the Inner Sphere.
In October 3062 however, they were surreptitiously hired by the Federated Suns to attack a supposed Pirate base on an uninhabited world, Coordinates 421.6, -399.2. Given an experimental AGS-4D Argus BattleMech as a sign-on bonus, the Black Dawn soon discovered they have been engaged under false pretenses, with the mission actually being to test the performance of the Argus against a secret Word of Blake base. Upon landing on the target world on 19 November, the Dawn soon discovered the ruse, and despite losing seven Dawn MechWarriors managed to retreat off-world and get paid by the Federated Suns.[1]
