David Dinh was a wing commander in the DCMS during the Second Succession War.[1]
History[edit]
Born as a lower-class citizens, David Dinh cames from a family of skilled technicians. Though he was naturally skilled as a tech, his desire was to fly in combat. Through perseverance and making the right contacts he was able to get into the Aerospace and Interstellar Institute where he graduated as an aerospace fighter pilot. He slowly worked his way up to Sho-sa and he was leading the aerospace contingent attached to the DCS Galedon II.[2]
He command what on paper are two Wings, but regularly fight Combine fighter wings contains twice as many fighters as most other wings. To gain versatility the Galedon II carries fighters of all weight classes, mostly designs that originate in Combine space.[1]
Thanks to his rank and skill as a tech, he has been able to have some of the fastest turnaround times for rearming his fighters in the Combine.[2]
In 2853 the Galedon II took part in an offensive against Hesperus II, later dubbed the sixth, seventh and eighth battles of Hesperus II where the Draconis Combine enacted a blockade of the Hesperus system.[3] His men to good use, capturing both recharge stations in the initial attack and boarding several Lyran DropShips that attempted to run the blockade.[1]
The Lyran Commonwealth famously reactivated their ancient battlecruiser LCS Invincible to break through the Combine siege. It jumped to the Hesperus system's nadir jump point on 25 October 2853 with six military DropShips and smashed through the Combine blockade vessels, destroying most of them. Only the Galedon II escaped by means of a preplanned jump to an irregular jump point close to Hesperus II at the last minute, taking the DropShips Katana, Rapier, Broadsword and Sabeeh plus a few squadrons of aerospace fighters with it.[3]
On 10 November 2853, the Invincible and the relief fleet accompanying it arrived at Hesperus II and engaged the Draconis Combine's planetary blockade fleet which had been reinforced by the Galedon II and its DropShips as well as a trio of corvettes that had been recalled from the zenith jump point blockade fleet. However, the Draconis Combine fleet was quickly routed (implicitly with heavy losses).[4] All Draconis Combine WarShips that had participated in the blockade were destroyed.[5]
