Kothinur Gritas was the commanding officer of the First Nova Cat Guards of Clan Nova Cat as of 3048.[1]

Star Colonel Kothinur Gritas, serving with the First Nova Cat Guards, lead the Nova Cat's efforts during the Trials surrounding Operation REVIVAL.[1] Star Colonel Gritas' unit was defeated by Clan Smoke Jaguar's Sixth Jaguar Dragoons and then won against both Clan Star Adder's Fifth Assault Cluster and Clan Blood Spirit's Red Guards. Unfortunately, Gritas' troops could not defeat Clan Jade Falcon's Third Falcon Talon and only received a reserve position for their clan after fighting a Trial of Refusal[2]
During Operation REVIVAL itself, Star Colonel Gritas commanded the February 3052 conquest of Caripare in the Draconis Combine. Facing the Second Ghost Regiment, Gritas' battle against the elite Combine forces necessitated using more of the First Guards' strength than was originally planned and left the centuries-old Trevorton Forest destroyed.[3] After the defeats dealt to the Nova Cats on Luthien and Tukayyid due to Inner Sphere deceptions, the First Guards were ordered to masquerade as other units when attacking new worlds. This ultimately resulted in Star Colonel Kothinur Gritas losing a Trial of Grievance against Star Captain Kalvin Rosse in 3059, as the junior officer desired to end what he perceived to be dishonorable tactics.[4]
