The New Aragon Protectorate Militia is one of the many militias raised by Word of Blake to defend the Word of Blake Protectorate. The unit was deployed in New Aragon.

History[edit]

In the last two weeks of October 3069,[1] New Aragon was conquered by the WoB's Twenty-second Division and added to the growing population of the Word of Blake Protectorate. During the battle for the planet, the Twenty-second Division resorted to chemical agents to clear out the defenders who were entrenched in an ancient fortress on planet.[2] The Blakists used chemicals liberally as they dug the defending forces out of the old Star League–era fortresses of McMichael and Ellison, that the agriculture industry for which New Aragon was known was almost destroyed. The contamination on Glastonbury was the most extensive; the Blakists contaminated the largest river on the continent, the Graham River so badly, that it destroyed the ecosystem of the entire continent.[3]

After that, a protectorate militia unit was raised and trained and set to defend the planet.

When the Capellan Confederation attacked New Aragon in 3077 with the Death Commandos, the Protectorate Militia commander vowed to fight the CCAF to the last man. The morning after the Capellans' landed, the Militia CO's eldest son was found with a dagger through his heart. Over the course of the next three nights, the CO's wife and two remaining sons were killed, all with the same message. New Aragon's militia surrendered on the fourth day, the CO pleading for the life of his youngest daughter.[4]

Rules[edit]

As long as a Protectorate Militia force is fighting on its homeworld and is acting as the scenario's Defender, the Protectorate Militia force receives the Force the Initiative and Off-Map Movement special abilities. If deployed as the Attacker in a scenario, the Protectorate Militia force loses its Force the Initiative ability, but retains its Off-Map Movement capability.

If deployed on a world other than its homeworld (such as an Epsilon Eridani force being deployed on Genoa), the Protectorate Militia force not only loses all of its special abilities, but also suffers a –2 Initiative modifier.

Although Blakist-based, Protectorate Militia forces may use standard Inner Sphere force arrangements (Lances, Companies, and Battalions) rather than Word of Blake force arrangements.[6]
