The Elgrim was an Isegrim-class DropShip of Clan Wolf and later Wolf's Dragoons.

Operational History

The Elgrim was built and operated by Clan Wolf. During most than a decade, it saw hard service across the Wolf Empire with its sister ship, the Falgrim, until they were sent to Trellisane. There, the merchant caste expanded the local Grumman Amalgamated plant to produce more Isegrims. Both were landed on Eurotas City's spaceport, and used as training and testbed hulls: to train the workers, they were taken apart, put back together and so on.[1]

Even during a Marik raid in 3151 both ships were left alone, as was Eurotas, but that changed when Zeta Battalion of Wolf's Dragoons, under contract to the Duchy of Tamarind, landed there on 17 February 3152. The Dragoons wanted to make sure both Isegrims weren't used against them. The Wolf defenders, as they weren't battle-ready; the workers hadn't time to finish rebuilding them and retreated from the city, leaving aboard only some defenders armed with hand weapons.[2]

The Falgrim surrendered before Dragoons infantry reached it. Elgrim's defenders fought but lost anyway, and the ship was soon secured. The Dragoons immediately began making both DropShips spaceworthy.[3]

After Tamarind forces arrived on 23 March they attempted to confiscate the ships, but the commander of Zeta Battalion, Haya Tetsuhara, ignored the Tamarind commander and took the ships with them when the battalion departed. Once at Nockatunga's Olympus Recharge station, the workers there began working on finished prepping the two Isegrims.[4]

Elgrim and Falgrim were fully operational with new crews in time for the next mission by Zeta: a raid on Gienah, capital of the Wolf Empire. Posing as members of the Yellow Suns Free Guild, Zeta arrived days early, and on 3 March 3152, another Dragoons JumpShip, the Talbot, arrived with Falgrim and Elgrim to secure Gienah's nadir jump point.[5]

Under the command of veteran DropShip captain Serena Carmody, Elgrim led the assault against the lone guard Wolf DropShip, the Pack Mule, destroying it with the first volley, while Falgrim attacked the Wolf JumpShip Tiamat. Elgrim quickly joined her sister ship for the boarding action, which happened without problems.[6]
