History
The First RCT as part of the Tenth Army formed the first wave of reinforcement sent to quell the uprising in the Magistracy of Canopus in 2765. As they moved forward to relieve the defenders of the besieged forts they were struck by the Secret Army and only further troops arriving prevented disaster. As the campaign progressed in theatre commander Joan Brandt ordered the Tenth along with the Ninth Army to push deeper into the Magistracy in order to isolate the capital, and by 2767 plans were underway to capture Canopus when General Kerensky ordered a cessation of hostilities.[1]
At the start of Operation Chieftain the First RCT had been reduced to three regiments and formed part of the Twenty-fourth Army Group.[2]
