History

The Botany Bay - was an ancient Gazelle-class DropShip operated by a group of warriors of Clan Wolf Watch, as part of the failed Operation Spatha, part of the Wolf Operation DAMOCLES II.

Operational History

The Botany Bay was an old DropShip in service in the Clan Homeworlds in the 31th century. In 3071 was located and buyed by Dark Caste members. A faction of the Caste, lead by Satinka, the Zimnyaya Ledi, Winter Lady, located it and a shell guild of she was used to buy the ship. The Winter Lady was associated with Garmen Kerensky, and old friend of her. He was send by Khan Vlad Ward to realize the secret Operation Spatha: to board the WarShip McKenna's Pride and steal Aleksandr Kerensky's body.[1] The Wolf and Dark Caste buy it in Strana Mechty, renamed the DropShip Botany Bay and spend two months making it spaceworthy, and recruiting members of the guild to crew it. Once repaired and staffed, the Bay performed several cargo runs for the Red Willows Guild, to test both ship and crew. In December of 3071, the DropShip was ready.

Destruction

The 3 December, Operation Spatha was launched. The Botany Bay was docked in the laborer Droport of Katyusha City. A point of Elementals, lead by Point Commander Marsali, were watching the ship.[2] Anyway, Operation Spatha began falling apart before to begin: Garmen Kerensky's main assault force trucks were delayed by the city fighting: When his Clan has launched Operation Kopis, to claim or destroy all Kerensky's legacies, several Clans began fighting. The city was a chaos, and Garmen's men were delayed for hours. Much before they arrived, several fights have broken up into the DropPort. At least a mob rushed in a DropShip near Botany Bay, and Marsali's men closed themselves into their ship... when an Aerospace fighter attacked and destroyed four DropShips, including the Bay. Ironically, the Home Clans have stopped Operation Spatha without even knowing their existence. Garmen's group arrived an hour later, and found the DropShip destroyed. There are no survivors.[3] The Wolf members were forced to delay the operation, and they only succeeded in their mission five years later.[4]

Notes

  • If the name of the DropShip came from the planet of Botany Bay or the ancient Australian penal colony of the same name, it is unknown, but the name was, at least ironical, as was buyed by criminals of the Clan society, and crewed by a group of, technically rogue warriors.
