Description
The Drake SDS Control Station formed a key element of the Word of Blake's Space Defense System. A militarized version of the Gatekeeper traffic control station intended to control up to eighteen Caspar II drones, the Drake served as the control node for the Cockatrice platforms. Equipped with enough firepower to drive off anything other than a determined assault, the Drake used a Naval Comm-Scanner Suite and DTACS system to coordinate the fire of Cockatrice platforms and other elements of the Word's SDS, including ground based units.[1]

As the stationary equivalent to the Word's Naga SDS control ships, the armament of the Drake was critical to its survival as unlike the Nagas, the Drake couldn't move. As a result, the Word installed enough anti-AeroSpace Fighter weaponry to drive off all but the most determined attacks. Each firing arc was equipped with two Extended Range Large Lasers, twin MML-9 launchers upgraded to use Artemis IV fire control, and six Medium Pulse Lasers. For additional defense, the nose and aft arcs each carried a pair of Anti-Missile Systems. The aft left and aft right quadrants and the nose arc also contained a Screen Launcher to obscure the Drake's position. Finally, to deter DropShip or Pocket WarShip assaults, the Drake carried a nose-mounted Swordfish sub-capital missile launcher. Despite all this native firepower, the Drake was most dangerous when coordinating the fire of other CASPAR II units.
Cargo
The Drake had three cargo bays. Bay 1 was an unpressurized repair bay that could contain vessels up to 5000 tons. This allowed it to not only control a Cockatrice platform, but also permitted technicians to maintain them. Bay 2 contains four Small Craft cubicles. Finally, Bay 3 was devoted to 3,820 tons of cargo space.
