Geralk Marik (Born 2420[1] - Died 2459) An House Marik notableman, military commander, and 13th Captain-General of the Free Worlds League during the Age of War.

Character Overview

Grandson of Peter Marik II, Gerwalk was noted for his military ambition and not being a polition. During his reign in power, he only spend twenty percent of his time on Atreus during his tenior in office.[2] He spend most of his eneries with his military ambitions of conquest.

Bella I & Alula Australis Campaign

The Captain-General was noted for his bloody campaign into the Lyran Commonwealth in 2455[3]. His campaign begun where his military forces drove into the Commonwealth taking worlds of Bella I and Alula Australis. He efforts on Bella I were noted when he used heavy force to capture the planet. Using continuous artillery barrages and aerospace craft to soften defensive positions of the Lyran defenders. Once this was done, sent in his massed Armor forces to move in and wipe any Lyran forces in their path. Seeing his war as a sanititzing, he ignoring the rules of the Ares Conventions. He gavethe order to his people that anyone on the enemy planet was considered an enemy, their fore shot on sight.[4]

After his six month offensive on Bella, he moved to Alula Australis. His forces used the same style of methods from Bella I, inflict incredibly high causalities on the Lyran defenders. His offensive on Alula Australis considered incredibly bloody in the age where Ares Convention's displations organizes war in a chess like manner. In this part of his offensive is where gained his bloody nicknames by the Lyran people.[5]

Loric Campaign and Geralk's downfall

The Captain-General was pleased with swift victories over the Lyran defenders. This where he decided to expand his campaign to world of Loric. He forces estiblished beachheads on the planet, however his swift progress of his previous victories eluded him. The Lyran defenders conducted maneuvering defense over the planets surface. These actions allowed the defenders to resistence draw out Marik's campaign for three years.

By 2459, the frustrated Captain-General formulated new Strategy where take Lyran forces in Loric's southern continent in massive artillery bombardment, then thrust his highly motivated troops into battle. He went to Loric itself to personally lead the battle himself. Before his battle, his forces spotted monoliths on the front, which he dismissed imagines being nothing. However, the first light of dawn, reveal "monoliths" as giant robots. Unknown to Geralk, Lyran Commonwealth had stolen designs for first BattleMechs from one the Terran Hegemony secret factories. He was stunned as the giant machines marched forward towards his frontlines. He mutely order the artillery bombardment to begin. His Anti-personnel artillery shells rained down on the giant 'Mechs. He had almost thought he had succeeded in stopping them. However a stiff wind revealed after smoked & dust cleared that shelling had not done any damaged to them. Geralk in rising panic, he orders his armored forces forward. He also ordering his forces use high-explosive shells in both the tanks and his artillery cannons. Lyran built Mackies marched forward when Geralk's tanks made their moved, answering with particle cannons, autocannons, and other weaponry. Within 15 minutes the battle had turned again Geralk, with regiment worth of his tanks laying ruined with only one 'Mech taken down in the exchange.

Geralk's fear grew greater as BattleMechs continue to march forward. Despite his fear, he held his ground and called his whale-like troop ships to join the battle to reinforce his thinning forces. Their combination of firepower along with his infantry forces, and artillery, they managed brief back the Lyrans. By noontime, Lyran commander of the 'Mech company called for Gerwalk and his forces to surrender. Gerwalk refused, being noted he rather wanted honorable death in battle instead. However, he did not get his wish. The Lyran 'Mechs overran his command post, pursuing flee Mariks. So Gerwalk the bloodthristy general died under the heel of a Lyran BattleMech.[6]


Family & Legacy

Geralk was father of three children; one daughter, Simone, and two sons Brion & Carlos[7]

Initially all of his children become at one time the Captain-General of the League. Starting with his daughter Simone who appointed to Captain-General after his death on Loric.

Geralk is also noted for being one of the most remembered Captain-Generals of Leagues' long history. He was also the first Captain-General to die in battle.[8]
