Planetary History

Loxley was founded by refugees of Scots-Irish descent, who had fled the war between the Stewart Confederacy and the Free Worlds League and founded colonies on the worlds of York and Lancaster in 2305, only to end up fleeing a second time in 2346 in the face of the looming threat of invasion from the Protectorate of Donegal. The refugees managed to stay undiscovered on Loxley until 2378, when the Lyran Commonwealth Archon Robert Marsden discovered that what he believed to be a small agricultural Lyran colony was infact a thriving independent community with a developed cottage-level industy. The colonists rebuffed Marsden's offer to join his forces, and as a result Marsden ordered that Loxley be occupied by force. The colonists fought back, but couldn't effectively fight against the much more advanced technology the Lyran troops had; the resulting conflict left just one in ten of the original population alive to flee from Loxley in a single ship, eventually founding the colony of Somerset.[2]
