Owner History

Planetary Info

Neerabup was originally a part of the Finmark Province of the Rim Worlds Republic and was conquered by the Lyran Commonwealth during the 2773-2775 Republic-Commonwealth war.[7]

Neerabup was settled by colonists who were bound for Australia. A large part of the colonists wanted to go deeper and find their own world, and they took control of two JumpShips and continued beyond Australia. After their food ran out a few weeks later, they landed on Neerabup and began to colonize the world.

Neerabup has wide grasslands perfect for agriculture. After the initial colonists landed they were able to plant many food crops and survive fairly well on the bucolic planet. The only drawback was their lack of livestock, which forced them to eat a mostly vegetarian diet. Fortunately another group of colonists stumbled upon Neerabup a year later, and they had plenty of livestock that adapted to the world's ecology.[1]

This agricultural focus remained in effect for many years. It wasn't until 3042 that the status quo changed. Surveyors attached to the AFFC decided that Bucklands and Neerabup would make excellent locations for March Militia units. The hot-tempered clans of Bucklands promised to resist the AFFC's plans, and so the High Command simply moved all the militia efforts to Neerabup. Though this concerned many of the citizens, the improved local economy and higher technology goods brought to the world by the AFFC more than made up for the loss of a few farmlands.

Neerabup's political system is based on provinces, each of which are headed by a Publican. The Publican is a hereditary position, passed from parent to firstborn son only. If no male heir is available the province's residents can elect a new Publican; In this case gender is irrelevant.[1]
