New Syrtis-Gap Inc. (NSGI) was a sports apparel company within the Federated Suns.[1]

Overview[edit]

During the Clan Invasion era New Syrtis-Gap attempted to reach a licensing agreement to distribute merchandise using the logo and imageware of Solaris Games Cenotaph Stables throughout the Successor States. Cenotaph owner Kai Allard-Liao declined the deal and instead directed his people to negotiate with local suppliers of sports apparel instead, with Cenotaph absorbing the additional expense of those negotiation. Unbowed, the larger New Syrtis-Gap chose to compete against these smaller companies illegally, printing counterfeit t-shirts featuring Cenotaph warriors and their 'Mechs such as Kai's own Yen-Lo-Wang and Larry Acuff and his Warhammer.[1] [2]

With the counterfeit shirts damaging the sales of the legitimate items, when Kai and Cenotaph learned of New Syrtis-Gap's actions they sought legal recourse. Though NGSI attempted to offer compensation in good faith, Kai however went further, making public their actions and damaging the company's standing on the New Avalon Stock Exchange as well as mandating a settlement which saw the company donate the remaining counterfeit stock to Kai's charity Cenotaph Charities Incorporated, with items ending up on such underprivileged Sarna March worlds as Zurich. [1] [2]

One of New Syrtis-Gap's more notable shareholders was Blackstar Stables owner Drew Hasek-Davion, whose stock portfolio suffered greatly as a result of the settlement and would reference the event during a Solaris Stable Owners Association meeting held on 25 January 3056. Kai Allard-Liao rebuffed Hasek-Davion's complaint and countered he would do far worse to Blackstar if evidence the rumors that Drew had received kickbacks from NGSI was true was ever found.[1]
