Description

The Prometheus Combat Support Bridgelayer (also known as Prometheus CSB) is a Federated Suns Combat Support Vehicle used to assist conventual ground vehicle transverse tough terrian and downed bridges. The vehicle was first designed by the Olympus Construction Vehicles of Fallon II in 2471. The AFFS was in need of a vehicle that could help its extensive conventional forces overcome the BattleMech all-terrian abilities.[1]

Once in service, the Prometheus was put into use to over battlefield difficulties for the troops, such as destruction of fortifications and clearing minefields.[1]

Deployment

The AFFS deployed the vehicle with its forces during the last years of the Age of War, trying enhance the conventional vehicles compete with the BattleMech of the era.[1]

The vehicle was viewed by combantants as inferior tank, and was never targeted by either frontline forces or conventional infantry. This allowed the vehicle remain in service despite its factory having been destroyed in the First Succession War by House Kurita. Its number became few, few its number survived well into the late 31st Century. By the Jihad, demand for the vehicle had resurfaced, since FedSun forces were rebuilding themselves from the FedCom Civil War. Production resumed with return of Olympus as manufacture company.[1]

All AFFS RCT formations during the Jihad, least had one Prometheus CSB attached them when needed.[1]

Armaments & Capacities

The vehicle principle equippment is its two side mounted Heavy Bridgelayer, one per vehicle's flank. Vehicle bridges each produce span of 30 meters each, able handle vehicle/mech traffic up to 90 tons. The vehicle has a 5 ton Infantry Compartment which allows it to carry platoon worth of troops, typical combat engineers.[1]

For vehicle's defense, it is armed with a 15-Tubed Long Range Missile Launcher mounted in its front. Meant as stand off weapon only, the vehicle only been given a ton ammunition for it. Also mounted in front is a Medium Laser. These weapons are linked to a Advanced Fire Control which enhables the vehicle fire with military percision. Prometheus has small 5 ton cargo capacity, with door mounted in the rear.[1]

The Prometheus has 10 tons of BAR 10 grade armor protecting it hull from damage.[1]

Notes

The vehicle features a armored chassis and controls modification As of this writing, there are no published record sheets for this vehicle.
