Training Pathways

See MechWarrior (pilot)#Training. Basic training is usually provided via;

1. A local 'military' school, which provided basic training. Or something similar to the Vagabond Schools of the Federate Suns.
2. Nobles may have private tutors.

Advanced Training is usually provided by;

1. military academy
2. an internship with one of the Solaris_Stables, training with the best gladiatorial champions.
3. "homeschooled" by family and friends - particularly if they were born into a mercenary company.

For many pilots, training began during their teenage years with entrance into a military school, which provided basic combat knowledge and skills, followed by admission into a military academy. A variety of academies exist offering varying levels of education, but regardless it will typically have taken many years before a cadet graduated with the skills necessary to be a MechWarrior. Alternatively, after military school some MechWarriors may have taken on an internship with one of the fighting stables and learned their fighting skills from some of the best gladiatorial champions.

• St. Ives Academy of Martial Sciences Training Group, was old St. Ives Martial Academy.
• Sakhara Academy is widely regarded as one of the best in the Federated Suns. Founded in 2613 by retired Star League officers, for many years it was open to anyone who could afford the tuition.

• Goshen War College Training Battalion, The Goshen War College Training Battalion is unique among the training battalions of the AFFS as graduates of the academy are not required to join. Instead, a graduate requests permission to join the unit for additional training before moving on to an AFFS unit.
