Description[edit]

In 3094, the Raven Alliance introduced the NL-45 Gunboat, the first small craft purpose-built for missile defense and interdiction. The NL-45 was designed to do for Pocket WarShips what the Star League Defense Force had used squadrons of aerospace fighters to do for their WarShips - screen against enemy craft and missiles.[1]

The Würger was developed by the Lyran Commonwealth as the next evolutionary step above the NL-45, continuing to respond to the changes in black water tactics since the Jihad. One of the key factors that made the Würger so successful was the Progeny II tactical computer, constructed by Lockheed/CBM and the very heart of the Würger. The Progeny II computer controls all of the offensive and defensive electronics built into the Würger, including the Beagle Active Probe and Guardian ECM Suite as well as the engine control systems and the cooling system. The Progeny II monitors the sensors scattered throughout the Würger, gathering hundreds of readings per second and using those readings to make adjustments that synergise each system together, maximizing the capabilities of each.[1]

Weapons and Equipment[edit]

The Würger mounts a trio of anti-missile systems in the nose, with another trio of AMS systems in the aft right and aft left locations, all fed from a nine-ton ammunition supply. For offensive firepower the Würger mounts four ER Medium Lasers in the front left and right arcs as well as another bank of four ER Medium Lasers in the Würger's aft.[1]

Cargo[edit]

Cargo Bays:[1]

  • Bay 1: Cargo (1 ton), 1 Door

Design Quirks[edit]

The Würger was subject to the following Design Quirks:[1]

Notes[edit]

  • All crew quarters aboard a Würger were steerage-class.[1]
