Martin Masar was the commanding officer of the Warren Capellan March Militia as of 3050.[1]
History[edit]
Leftenant General Masar, serving with the Warren CMM, was stationed on Warren in 3050 and remained there by 3062.[1][2] A career soldier with little inclination for politics, Masar's forthright manner had earned him many enemies. Masar chose to treat these foes like he would a battlefield opponent: directly and without compromise. Numerous planetary rulers who sought to undermine Masar's position found their lands the site of unscheduled March Militia exercises as a result of this attitude.[2]
FedCom Civil War[edit]
Aligned with Archon Katherine Steiner-Davion during the FedCom Civil War, Masar was assigned with the taking of Panpour by Marshal of the Armies Jackson Davion in 3064. Grouping up with the mercenary Hansen's Roughriders and the Islamabad CMM, Masar attacked Panpour on 2 August with what appeared to be the superior force. Predicting the defenders' reliance on aerospace support, Masar's attacks on the planet's airfields and spaceport facilities enabled his troops to move in on the city of Kantara without having to keep a constant eye on the sky. Masar began to gradually push into Kantara while dispatching smaller units to capture strategic facilities elsewhere on Panpour, ultimately taking numerous defensive positions and production facilities in preparation for any counterattacks.[3]
Despite his preparations, Masar's men could make no more gains on Panpour in the face of staunch resistance from the First Albion Training Cadre and the mercenaries of DeMaestri's Sluggers. To make matters even worse, the entire Lexington Combat Group arrived on-world in 3065 under orders from Duke George Hasek to secure the planet's aerospace production facilities and restore its links to the rest of the Federated Suns. The highly-trained, highly-prepared Lexington forces quickly pushed Masar out of Kantara and into the arms of the First Albion and DeMaestri's Sluggers, although the latter's reckless charge against Masar's soldiers turned the fighting bloody and gave Hansen's Roughriders the chance to wipe out half of the Sluggers. While both of Masar's militias were destroyed once the First Cadre and Lexington troops arrived to assist the Sluggers, they dealt severe damage to both the Sluggers and First Albion Cadre while the Roughriders managed to escape off-world.[4]
