Yvonne Steiner-Davion was the fifth child of Prince Hanse Davion and Archon Melissa Steiner's five children. As such, she was the fourth in line to the throne of the Federated Commonwealth. Unlike the other Steiner-Davion children, Yvonne was born on Liao. She was the regent of the Commonwealth for her brother, Victor, when he went off to fight the Clans. After Victor abdicated the throne in 3067, Yvonne became the de facto ruler of the Federated Suns.

History[edit]

Early Life[edit]

Yvonne Steiner-Davion was born on Liao on March 15, 3039.[1] Her mother was on a tour of the Sarna March at the time. She attended and graduated from the New Avalon Institute of Science. She was always close to her older sister, Katherine, who often treated her like a dress-up doll.

Regent[edit]

When her oldest brother, Archon-Prince Victor, chose to lead a task force to the Clan Homeworlds, he left Yvonne as his regent. Unfortunately for Yvonne, Katherine seized the opportunity and quietly stirred up discontent against Victor and Yvonne. It got so bad that Yvonne practically begged Katherine to take over. She did so, becoming the leader of both realms of the fractured Federated Commonwealth. Yvonne then traveled to Luthien to meet her brother and inform him of what she knew. Initially, Victor allowed Katherine to stay on the throne, but eventually circumstances compelled him to take up arms against his sister.

Regent Again[edit]

When the FedCom Civil War was over, Victor abdicated his throne and invested Yvonne as the leader of the Federated Suns. Technically she could not become the First Prince, as Alexander Davion had barred all regents from succession centuries earlier,[2] but she became the Regent for her then-unconceived child.

Aside from rebuilding her shattered military, one of the first decision Yvonne made was to pull out of the Star League. With large portions of the Federated Suns in shambles, she believed that the financial support the Suns provided the League would be better served going to rebuild the nation. This decision infuriated the Word of Blake, who were due to become full members of the League. When the League could not muster the support to pass a no-confidence vote, it folded. The dominant faction of the Word of Blake, however, ascribed to the interpretation of a prophecy that claimed they would come to power through the Star League. The aid that the Blakists had apparently planned on giving to the Suns instead turned into an invasion of New Avalon. The Blakists also attacked Tharkad, where the Whitting Conference had just ended. Yvonne narrowly missed the bombardment of the Triad, and was able to fly under the Word's radar after that.

Yvonne's exact whereabouts after she left Tharkad are sketchy, but she apparently was still in control of the Suns while hiding out on Markesan with Tancred Sandoval. In January 3075 Yvonne Steiner-Davion and Tancred Sandoval returned to New Avalon, touring Avalon City and reestablishing the Federated Suns central authority on New Avalon in the wake of the Word of Blake occupation.[3][4]

With the end of the Jihad, Yvonne held a summit known as the Camelot Summit on New Avalon in October 3079. The Summit began with the dedication of the rebuilt Castle Davion and New Avalon City on the 12th of October, and was attended by prominent military and political figures from across the Federated Suns. Amongst the subjects discussed were the future of the Federated Suns post-Jihad, how to resolve the ongoing conflict with the Taurian Concordat, the restructuring of the AFFS after the heavy losses inflicted during the Jihad, and the creation of the new Periphery March. Yvonne announced the formation of the Periphery March on the 16th of October and made General Raymond-Roger Marsin a Duke, as well as naming him Lord of the new Periphery March.[5]

Marriage and Children[edit]

She married Tancred Sandoval and had at least one child, Harrison Davion.

Notes[edit]

Yvonne was named for Yvonne Davion, the former Prince's Champion prior to Ardan Sortek during Hanse Davion's reign.[6]
