The green 312th Division is most noted for its diplomatic role with fighting Clan Jade Falcon in the Battle of Tukayyid.[1][2]

History[edit]

Immediately prior to the Clan Invasion the regular ranked 312th Division, then an upsilon-based formation referred to by the nickname of the Clear Communication, was assigned to the 12th Army, and was headquartered on the Draconis Combine Alshain Military District capital of Alshain.[3]

Battle of Tukayyid[edit]

One of the divisions from the 12th Army selected to assist the Com Guard Seventh Army in combating Clan Nova Cat during the Battle of Tukayyid, the 312th was considered too far from the field of battle to helpfully contribute to counterattack of the supply depots of the 244th and 467th Divisions captured by the Cats' Beta and Gamma Galaxies.[1][2]

After ComStar Schism and FedCom Civil War[edit]

Rebuilding with BattleMechs and green academy graduates to become a green rated IV-rho formation in the aftermath of Tukayyid, the 312th Division changed its nickname to The Ivory Rooks. Transferred to bolster the losses suffered by the 11th Army against Clan Jade Falcon, the 312th was stationed on Sabik in the disputed Lyons Thumb.[4] After the conclusion of the Refusal War the 312th was among the divisions of the 11th Army transferred to reinforce the newly formed Lyran Alliance's border with the Clan Jade Falcon Occupation Zone relocating to the Alliance world of A Place.[5]

Located just two jumps from the Falcons' Occupation Zone capital of Sudeten and serving as a base of operations for Inner Sphere diplomats seeking visit the Falcon's provincial capital, despite their lack of experience members of the 312th accompanied diplomatic missions launched from A Place as escorts, the only Inner Sphere troops whose presence was tolerated in the Occupation Zone.[5] Despite their travels in the zone, due to their relative inexperience the 312th was kept back for defensive operation during the Jade Falcon Incursion in the FedCom Civil War much to the dismay of the eager for battle division.[6]
