History

Operation Revival

During the Clan Invasion, the Eighth Falcon Regulars were among leading invading units the Clan Jade Falcon invasion corridor. During Operation Revival the Eighth Falcons were assigned to Peregrine Galaxy, and later to Vau Galaxy.

First Wave

During the First Wave, the Regulars split up to strike against two worlds in March 3050. The 8th Falcon's first assigned target was the FedCom world of Anywhere. There on planet they fought the newly arrived 2nd New Ivaarsen Chasseurs, in a Trial of Possession. Unfamiliar with the terrain, the 8th Falcons' quickness in their assault were able cause the Chasseurs to make makes that lead to their defeat at Brigham Rollo.[1]

Elements of the 8th Regulars also struck Bone-Norman with the Turkina Keshik. During the initial assault, the planet's defenders aerospace forces attacked Falcon's landing troops. Where in this battle, the Falcon forces dropped on top of the 1st Grave Walkers Regiment's defensive positions help the Turkina maul the mercenaries.[2]

In April, the 8th was dispatched to Steelton, where it and the 12th Falcon Regulars were assigned to take the planet. Leading the planet's defense forces was Colonel Francis "Crab" Carranza, whom was relative of a warrior whom was was part of the Exodus Fleet and died defending General Aleksandr Kerensky in some action. The Vau Galaxy's Galaxy Commander Angeline Mattlov offer a bid to Trial of Possession in way honor Colonel Carranza's hertiage. The Colonel, inflated size and skill of his defending force in return bid for the planet. This forced Galaxy Commander Mattlov to dispatch two Clusters worth of forces fight for control of the planetary capital of Cregan's Bluff and mining facility south of the city. In the course of the battle, the 8th Regulars disrupt its' sister clusters efforts in achieving victory before it could. The enemy was ultimately forced withdraw from the planet.[3]

After this, the Eighth Falcon Regulars found themselves with limited opportunities for combat. After helping their Peregrine Galaxy comrades take Apolakkia in 3050 they were put on garrison duty.[4]

Truce of Tukayyid

During the battle of Tukayyid, the Eighth Falcon Regulars only played a minor role. Their participation was limited to providing security details for other units. As part of the reorganization that followed they were permanently assigned to Iota Galaxy for garrison duties.[4] Due to the attitudes of its commanders' towards freeborns, the Eighth Regulars had the largest numbers of freeborn warriors of any front-line unit in the Falcon touman during the 3050s.[4]

Raid on Sudeten

In the aftermath of the Invasion, the AFFC sent the 5th and 12th Deneb Light Cavalry to raid Sudeten. The Eighth Falcon Regulars and Twelfth Falcon Regulars inflicted massive losses on the 12th DLC: Barely a third of the attacking 12th DLC was able to withdraw.[5]

Refusal War

During the Refusal War, the unit fought against Clan Wolf forces commanded by Phelan Ward on Sudeten. Although the Eighth outnumbered and out-massed the Wolf force, Khan Ward was able to shatter the Eighth, inflicting eighty-five percent casualties.[6]

The shattered Cluster was transferred to Epsilon Galaxy and rebuilt in 3058,[6] and in 3059 was stationed on Devin.[7] By 3067 the Cluster had moved to Wotan.[8]

Officers

Brikai Buhallin commanded the Eighth Regulars during Operation Revival. He was relatively unique among Falcon warriors because he freely intermingled with freeborns and members of lower castes.[4] In 3059 the commanding officer was Star Colonel Terrence, who replaced Brikai Buhallin after Sudeten. Terrence was still in command in 3067.[8]

The Cluster was not known for any specific tactics.
