Owner History

Planetary Info

Aitutaki was originally settled by Regulans looking for a way station. This was eventually destroyed and replaced by an agricultural community. The biggest change to Aitutaki came in 2414, however, when the Principality of Regulus made the world their main training world. The planet is covered by live-fire ranges, exercise facilities, and training areas even today.[1]

The most important of these facilities is the island continent of Simla. Located on this island are towns for soldiers to practice urban warfare tactics and fortresses that can be used for offensive or defensive training. Most importantly, however, Simla is the home of the Aitutaki Academy which has long served as the training facility for officers in the Regulan units.[1]

One interesting feature of Aitutaki is the separation of local government from financial concerns. Unlike most worlds, which put both functions together in a single city, Aitutaki's government is located 250 kilometers away from the financial "capital". A high speed rail line links both capitals. The trip takes less than an hour. By separating the two functions, the Aitutakians insure that commerce doesn't affect government, and vice versa.[1]
