Hogo Manati was Earl of Albiero at the end of the Third Succession War.[1]
History[edit]
Hogo Manati came from a family that has headed the Albiero Prefecture since the original division of the Draconis Combine into districts and prefects.
He was the third son of his family, groomed to a position in the government bureaucracy after he failed to show any military promise. When both his older brothers died, he became Prefect of Albiero in 3008.
Shortly after assuming office, he went to the Royal Palace on Luthien for the Coordinator's birthday celebration. The Coordinator noticed the pleasant young man, and granted him a rare private audience. After that, Manati divided his time between Luthien and Albiero, enjoying a privileged position in Court that was unknown for a mere prefect. Meanwhile, Manati acquired status as a friend and confidant to many high members of the court and no one ever heard of Manati betraying a confidence.
His only known political stand came in 3025, when he opposed the further exploration of Brocchi's Cluster. This was just as well, as manpower and equipment were limited and the Kuritan government did not consider the project a priority.
Hogo kept his sons away from court as much as possible so they would not be spoiled when the time came to succeed him to his post.
He was not close to Theodore Kurita, and other courtesans expected him to disappear from court when Takashi died.[1]
