Description
Introduced into service in 3123, the Taranis, is a Heavy Class Battle Armor first created for the Armed Forces of the Republic of the Sphere. Built on Terra, the heavy weight suit was designed to work closely with RAF's Combined Arms formations, bring in is considerable toughness and firepower to bear. The Armor is used in from range of roles from close in combat to providing defense against incoming enemies.
While in the service of the Republic, the Taranis in number of small & large conflict where it proved its worth. Taranis Battle Armor were used in combat on Markab in 3134, where the 3rd Principle Guards deployed them aid them to defeat elements of the Spirit Cats terrorizing local militia forces. The suit's considerable firepower pin the Clan warriors in place for rest of 3rd Principle's forces to maneuver behind them and shatter them.
During the Republic's efforts to exterminate the ComStar's renegade elements, the Taranis assigned to the 14th Hastati Sentinels were used during the campaign on Epsilon Eridani in [[3141]. The suits being deployed in air-drops on top of ComGuard positions]], help lead the Republic to victory at steep price.[4]
Weapons and Equipment
Principle designed for heavy combat, the suit comes well armed and armored. However, these qualities come at the price of mobility. To help achieve this, operate of the suit is protected by 500 kgs of Mimetic Armor. With reduced visibility, the suit's armor can bring down chances of it being detected while it’s readying for combat.
The Armor's primary firepower comes in the form of a Heavy Recoilless Rifle mounted on the suit's right arm with 20 rounds of ammo. In its left arm, is the suit's heavy anti-mech weapon, a Medium Laser with enough energy for 30 shots before running dry. Each weapon is fitted in Detachable Weapon Pack, which allows an operator to drop their now depleted weaponry for more mobility.[5][6]
Notes
The suit was named after the mythical Celtic God of Thunder, with its face/helmet resembling the rendering of the bearded god.
