Description

The Ursus II is a Clan Medium BattleMech that was jointly developed by Bergan Industries of Alshain and Arc-Royal MechWorks of Arc-Royal. Due to their unique status as being secured Clan producer of Clan Technology, the Ursus II was built as means for Bergan Industries to increase influence in a very small market. The Ursus II was first produced 3078, where early production runs went to units participating in the last phases of the liberation of Terra. The design was seen as a body guard unit, escorting large more vital 'Mechs.

Based on the Ghost Bear's second-line, Ursus, the design had some considerable changes from the original. The XL Fusion Engine is downgraded to a 200 Rated engine, to help lower costs. To make up for its loss in speed, the design was fitted with Improved Jump Jets add more tactical mobility. In its role as Body Guard unit, the 'Mech employs a ECM Suite. Its hull is protected by 10.5 tons of Standard Armor.[2]

Armament

The Ursus II is well rounded 'Mech, where is long range firepower includes its Artemis IVs guided Ten-Tubed Long Range Missile Launcher and Extended Range Large Laser. As the 'Mech closes in on its target, the can employ is close range weaponry, which includes Medium Pulse Lasers, ER Small Lasers, and Six-Tubed Streak Short-Range Missile Launcher. Both built-in CASE protected missile launchers are only allotted with a ton of ammunition each. To manage the 'Mech weapons and equipment heat, the 'Mech uses 13 Double Heat Sinks. A pilot using the 'Mech must be careful not to overload their heat sinks, having choose which systems to employ.[3]

Notes
