Description
Of the three designs that formed the Spectral LAM series built and deployed by the Word of Blake, the Yurei was the middleweight design, although as the Yurei entered service a year before the Waneta, this wouldn't be immediately obvious to the various opponents of the Blakists. The Yurei drew its name from the ancient Japanese name for a kind of demonic shape-shifting spirit.[2]
The Yurei featured a small cockpit,[3] and carried one ton of fuel, but was generally an indifferent performer when compared to dedicated BattleMech or AeroSpace Fighter designs, relying on the shock of its' ability to transform, the general effectiveness of the Clantech weaponry it used and the abilities of the Manei Domini pilot to compensate for the mediocre speed and weapons payload compared to the opponents it faced in battle.[2]
With the destruction of the former Brigadier Corporation factory on Gibson the only known manufacturing lines for the Yurei no longer exist, making it an extinct design to the best of anyone's knowledge, and the little information that is known is drawn largely from studying salvage left from combat actions.[2]
Weapons and Equipment
Like the larger Waneta Spectral LAM, the Yurei mounts a weapons array comprised entirely of Clantech weaponry, although again the exact source of the various weapons is unknown. The weapons are almost all energy weapons, comprising an array of one ER Large Laser backed up by two ER Medium Lasers. In addition to the lasers, the Yurei has a one-ton internal bomb bay protected by CASE II, giving the Yurei the ability to potentially survive an otherwise catastrophic level of internal damage.[2]
Variants
No variants of the Yurei had been identified as at mid-3081, although the Yurei has only been seen in combat against forces from the Principality of Regulus and the Duchy of Oriente, so it may be that other variants exist but have yet to be seen.[2]
Quirks
The Yurei has two Design Quirks:
