Unlimited Honor

Catastrophe Unlimited is an original BattleTech novella penned by Michael A. Stackpole, the third of four parts of a serial novel. It was offered as a backer reward for Harebrained Schemes' successful BattleTech Video Game crowdfunding campaign, and was released in electronic format on 27 February 2018 to backers who had pledged at least 50 US$ to the project.

The title is scheduled released for general sale by Catalyst Game Labs on 1 August 2025, with a new cover and adding an overall series title, The Crown Ascendancy, to the novel's title.

From the Back Cover[edit]

BATTLING FOR HIS LIFE...

Solaris VII, known as the Game World. Walter de Mesnil, last survivor of the mercenary company Angleton's Angels, has brought the heir of the planet Maldive here to rebuild his fortune and amass a force powerful enough to return to his planet and take it from the ruling Collective. And how does a mercenary MechWarrior make money on Solaris? By strapping into a 'Mech and doing whatever it takes to pay the bills...

IN FRONT OF CHEERING CROWDS...

Solaris, however, is an entirely different scene than Maldive, with its own dangers ranging from unscrupulous managers to fixed fights. And as Walter's charges are still in hiding, they have to step carefully to not risk exposing themselves to the heir's enemies. But when a person from their past reappears on Solaris, Walter is thrust into a four-way battle he must not win... but which might be even deadlier if he loses...

Canonicity[edit]

Originally written for the release of the HBS videogame, this series of novellas have long been apocryphal. In February 2025 the first installment of this series was released by CGL as a canonical product. At this time, future installments have yet to be released and and thus are still apocryphal, though they are expected to be officially published imminently. Until such a time unpublished installments and the characters and events there in must remain apocryphal.
