Description[edit]

The Hellcat has its origins in Clan Nova Cat's post-Abjurement rebuilding program of the 3060s. The chassis design, then called the Conjurer 6, was traded to Clan Jade Falcon merchants in exchange for raw materials. The Falcons then reworked the atypical Conjurer variant into its own distinct design. The early Hellcat, named in part for the redesign's creators and the Inner Sphere designation for the Conjurer, emphasized flexible firepower and saw limited production before the Jihad. A more modernized variant was introduced during a brief Falcon remilitarization program on Graus in the 3130s, but fell to the wayside in the aftermath of the Falcon's rending. The plans and machinery were then acquired by Clan Sea Fox, who relocated production to their facilities on Twycross.[2]

Weapons and Equipment[edit]

The modernised Hellcat uses a 300 rated XXL engine, endo steel chassis, and ferro-fibrous armour to allow for a fast, well armored machine with a heavy weapons payload. It carries two Series 6b ER large lasers and a single Type KOV LB 10-X autocannon for long and medium range combat, and an Mk. 22 Type III SRM-6 rack for close range engagements. Two tons of autocannon reloads are carried, along with one ton of missiles giving the Hellcat good battlefield endurance. Even with 14 double heat sinks pilots must be careful though as, due to the XXL engine, the Hellcat can run hot.[4]

Variants[edit]

  • Hellcat-P
A prototype variant created by Clan Jade Falcon in 3065,[5] it only differs in that it mounts 250 rated XL engine, giving it a lower top speed of 86 km/h. Its armament and armor is the same as the later version. BV(2.0) = 1,777[6]

Design Quirks[edit]

The Hellhound is subject to the following Design Quirks:[7]

Related BattleMechs[edit]

  • Wolverine - The Hellcat is descended from the Wolverine as it was spun off from the Conjurer, itself a rework of the venerable 'Mech.[8]

Notes[edit]

  • The prototype Hellcat-P is the canonization of the Hellhound that appears in the computer game MechWarrior 4: Mercenaries, which gave the 'Mech to a different history than the canonical Hellhound. The new appearance is attributed to the Nova Cat's Conjurer 6 variant.
