History

The First Buena Jaegers were created at some point between 3079 and 3085 as part of a new brigade known as the Lyran Reserves. During its early years the First Jaegers were ordered to secure New India but suffered from a succession of abusive, corrupt and alcoholic regimental commanders. Fortunately for the unit, it never saw combat under these officers.[1] [2]

The Jaegers were first blooded by Duke Vedet's coup. They were stationed on Buena at the time, and saw their supplies re-routed to other forces that were more loyal to Duke Vedet. The unit was split into multiple company sized formations and raided deeply into the former Circinus Federation, taking very few losses. These raids improved the unit's cohesion and skills, and still allowed them to return a largely combat ready force by the time the Clans left Tharkad.[3] Though the unit was officially headquartered on Rosice in 3145[4], in reality they were still split into company sized formations to cover more ground.[3]

During the Commonwealth's reclamation of the Buena Collective in 3148, a battalion of the First Jaegers was among the LCAF's Task Force Kingbreaker that assaulted Diego Widmer's estate on Ayacucho. Following the LCAF's victory there and subsequent move on Buena itself, the First Buena Jaegers joined the First Buena Volunteers in seizing the capital city Ciudad del Mar.[5]
