History

Is a Lyran regiment that was formed by Duke Vedet of Hesperus II in Spring of 3137. The unit was created for Lyran Commonwealth's military campaign known as Operation Hammerfall. Duke Vedet staffed the unit with officers he had secretly "helped". The guards had been equipt by Duke as well, with latest equipment his Defiance Industries could manfacture.

In July, 3137, Duke Vedet lead the guards ask part of the Task Force known as "Gauntlet". They were part of the first wave of Operation Hammerfall which was sent into region of space labeled by the Lyran command as the "Wedge", which is located between Free World League's Duchy of Tamarind-Abbey & Marik-Stewart Commonwealth.

As part of the Task Force, they easily captured the worlds of Shasta and Millungera in first intitial months of the war. The Guards were later pulled to reinforce fight in Marik-Stewart space facing with the re-formed Silver Hawks Irregulars and local militia The Bondurant Bombardiers on Bondurant. The fight for Bondurant was brutal campaign, wearing both units throughly, but ulimately ended in victory for the weary Guards and Third Lyran Regulars.

The Guards returned to Tamarind-Abbey space to invade Simpson Desert with most of the Third Lyrans Regulars in December 2. The guard later continued on to deployed Danais to aide 4th Royals in their efforts to fight Silver Hawks & local militia unit named Daredevil of Danais. The Duke and Guard took the capital city of Breckenridge, thinking they could use the resources of the city to take over the "lightly" defended planet, not knowing the Hawks were on planet.

However, the city had been stripped of vital resources and facilities sabotaged. Duke had order the Guards to raid city's civilian stores for supplies. Hawks and Daredevils made capture of the city as symbol of their resistance of Danasi. These forces continued to do hit and run guerilla attacks on Guards and other Lyran forces for months.

With relentless attacks by civilians and guerilla forces of the militia, Duke Vedet orders all the civilians in city of Breckenridge arrested and locked away by Feburary 3138. By this time, invasion of the Free World League space had come to stand still by order Archon due to arrival of Clan Wolf.

By March 3138, Operation Hammerfall had finally resumed and Guards had landed world of Helm in Marik-Stewart space. The landing arrived with Clan Wolf Cluster lead by Star Colonel Alaric Wolf. Clan forces proceeded without Guards, attempted to attack capital city of Helmsdown. Wolf's attack were called off after running into stronger resistance from the local forces whom were infact the Silver Hawks. Guards were joined by 1st Steiner Strikers in April 24th in order reinforce Lyran forces and help resume battle.

Two days later marked the beginning of resumption of Battle for Helmdown. Guard's artillery began rain fire down on Silver Hawk positions in the city. Guards had slow goings through the city. Some elements of Silver Hawks that been battered by both Strikers, Wolves and Guards had contacted the Duke to surrender to him. He accepted their surrender, only be forced to fire on them when Clan Wolf forces attacked the surrendered units and made Hawks resume firing on both the Guards. The battle ended in massacre of remaining Silver Hawks.

Fed up with barbarian ways of Wolves, Guards began preparations to leave planet and hit new capital of commonwealth, Stewart.

At unknownly prompted of Trillian Steiner's rumors, both the Wolves and Guards race to hit Stewart by June 4th.

Using intelligence discovered by Loki, Duke Vedet lead the Guards into New Endinburgh with both Clan Wolf forces and 1st Steiner Strikers pushing forward from the south of the city. Duke dispatched company to intercept what they believed was motorcade of the Captain-General Anson Marik, but turning out to be trap.

Guards stormed the New Endinburgh Palance and its infantry units were forced to kill Anson Marik in running gun battle through the palace. Claiming Stewart as part of the Lyran Commonwealth and effectively destroying the Marik-Stewart Commonwealth.
