The Fifth Deneb Light Cavalry was the first Deneb Light Cavalry unit formed by the AFFS.[1]

History
In the Fourth Succession War the Fifth Deneb Light Cavalry was stationed on Northwind with two mercenary units in support. The system was attacked by the 36th Dieron Regulars, 5th Sword of Light, and the newly-formed Genyosha. The AFFS forces were able to hold off the DCMS troops, and things were looking to become a bloody stalemate. A company of the Fifth Sword of Light walked their 'Mechs through a reservoir, however, and the next day half the Fifth DLC was out of action dealing with ptomaine poisoning and 5000 innocent civilians were dead. Despite being reduced to approximately a battalion of effectives, the DLC was able to stop an assault by the Thirty-sixth Dieron the next day. The unit was effectively destroyed in this fight, as the strength of the defenders was underestimated by approximately 50%. The surviving members of the Fifth were transferred to other DLC units to replace casualties.[4]
