A temperate world lying along the edge of the defunct Rim Worlds Republic, Von Strang's World is home to descendants of Stefan Amaris's supporters. The present population consists of literate artisans and feudal laborers devoted to the construction and maintenance of hundreds of fortifications. What once may have been a necessary defensive measure has devolved into an archaic social imperative used to justify the continued subordination of the majority to the wishes of the Von Strang family. At present, the planet is believed to hold over 18,000 inhabitants. Outside contact is discouraged, and few who visit Von Strang's World have returned. Those who have report the planet poor in natural resources and its populace poor in individual freedoms.

The Baron is a descendant of Colonel Gunthar Strang, commander of the 18th Amaris Chasseurs, one of the last 'Mech forces that General Aleksandr Kerensky defeated in the Civil War. The current Baron Von Strang dreams of gathering enough MechWarriors to launch a Holy War of Redemption to reclaim the lost Rim Worlds Republic planets once ruled by the Amarises. While few seriously believe him capable of carrying out such a threat and most consider him a glorified crackpot, his family fortune, augmented by local diamond mines, is sufficient to lure the occasional MechWarrior into his service. Von Strang heartily despises anything pertaining to the old Star League government, and he extends this prejudice to all things originating from the Inner Sphere. Any material (or persons) arriving on his holdfast from the Inner Sphere is subject to immediate seizure and imprisonment.

Von Strang has turned his planet into a gigantic fortified camp to repel the "inevitable" invasion from the Inner Sphere. That is also how he justifies keeping the planet's civilians in a feudal bond to local Wardens, providing labor and related services for sustenance. In recent years, Von Strang's forces, estimated at over a full battalion of BattleMechs with two DropShips and a JumpShip, have begun raiding Lyran Commonwealth outposts along the border. Though the Lyrans have ignored the attacks to date, at some point, they may decide to confront Von Strang head to head.

Barony of Strang was a single planet Periphery nation located on Von Strang's World - Located outside of the Lyran Commonwealth, the Barony of Strang, sometimes referred to as the Barony of Lost Hope, is a small planet then ruled by the self-proclaimed Baron Otto Von Strang. The planet was later overrun by the Clans.

Nation Description & History

The Barony was ruled by ancestors of Rim World's Republic officer Colonel Gunthar Von Strang. He commanded of the 18th Amaris Chasseurs, which was initially one of the last 'Mech forces that General Aleksandr Kerensky defeated in the Star League Civil War.

The Von Strang family ruled the planet since the Rim Worlds Republic, the family die-hard loyalist of Stefan Amaris, continued to be loyalty its fallen leader. Family named the planet's only city, Amaris City. The Barony's civilian population was ruled through loyal Wardens. Though them kept the population in check and provided manpower and other services that Von Strang family required. Planet keep the Von Strang family in power through locally mined Diamonds.

Since the fall of the Star League, the planet's ruling population became paranoid of pending invasion by Inner Sphere nations. They used what materials they had on hand and turned the planet into a fortified fortress against to them probable incursion of the Inner Sphere.

By 3025, Baron Otto Von Strang, had grew desires of recapturing the lost worlds of the Rim Worlds Republic for his own. He built up his armed forces using the wealth earned from the world's diamond mines. Though only having gained battalion worth of BattleMechs, he carried out raids of periphery border worlds along the Lyran Commonwealth. Baron Otta had developed paranoia of any outsiders coming to Von Strang's World, had them imprisoned on sight. Lyran officials had ignored what they had deemed Otta's raids not worthy of retaliation.[1]

Invasion of the Falcons and fall of the Barony

In 3049, Clan Jade Falcon arrived Von Strang's World, where they issued a batchcall to planet's ruler. Sitting Baron of Strang, Stepan Von Strang, responded in Falcon's call stating he Clans and Falcons were scum of Star League. He rebuked the rules of engagement of Zellbrigen and would attack. Falcons Khan Elias Crichell lead his Turkina Keshik to invade the Barony's only world. Barony's Aerospace forces engaged the Falcon's DropShips in hopes to cripple their ground forces. However, the Barony's fighters were no match for elite of Falcon's invasion force.

On the ground, the Amaris City's heavily fortificated barriers and weapons turrets laid heavily damage against them, but soon Elemental troopers breached the fortications removed them from the battle. Fowl weather made it difficult to spot Baron's Guard Division.

However, Khan Crichell lead his forces into the city where they faced against the Baron in his BattleMaster leading his Battalion of 'mechs and tank forces attempting to flank him after driving ahead to Von Strang's Palace. Elemental Battle armor & technological advantages over came skilled soldiers of Barony's armed forces. Final blow came to Barony when the Khan splayed Stepan in his BattleMaster, his forces smashed remaining Guard units. The Falcons then hunted down all who attempted to slip into wilderness. The Khan fitted his mech with hand actuator and paraded around the grounds with Stepan's body in 'mech steel fist.

The Falcons renamed the Amaris City to Unity City, had body of Stepan Von Strang hoisted on a flag pole to dangle under the banners of Clan Jade Falcon and Star League.[2]
