Durant Carlyle was the commander of Recon Lance, Colby's Commandos, a small mercenary unit in the late Third Succession War,[3] and father of Grayson Carlyle.

History[edit]

When Jonathan Colby was killed on Golandrinas in 2990 Carlyle assumed command of the Commandos which were redubbed Carlyle's Commandos.[4] When the unit was betrayed at Trellwan in 3024 he was killed by a Marauder piloted by the mercenary Lieutenant Grieg Vallendel.[1]

Tactics[edit]

Carlyle does not like leaving things to chance, believing in shaping the battlefield before combat is joined. He prefers mobility over static defenses and considers a standing fight, even on the defense, as a losing proposition. Above all else however he seeks to protect those under his command.[2]

BattleMechs[edit]

In 2990 Carlyle piloted a Shadow Hawk.[3] By 3019 as commander of Carlyle's Commandos he operated a Phoenix Hawk.[1]

Quote[edit]

"The man with the gold makes the rules."[2][3]
