The Korvin Doctrine is one of the core principles taught to all Capellan Confederation citizens, starting in the mid-twenty-sixth century, espousing the philosophy that "to disobey the will of the state is to threaten the ultimate future of the human race". House Liao Chancellors interpreted "state" to only mean the Capellan Confederation, specifically the Liao Chancellor.

The Korvin Doctrine was a collection of private correspondence written by Alana Korvin DeVall in the late twenty-second and early twenty-third centuries collected into a philosophical tract published posthumously by her family in 2225. The doctrine deems subservience to a "greater humanity" a necessary trait of human beings in a star-faring age.[1] A repeating theme in her writings was the "subordination of the individual to the service of a Greater Humanity". While Korvin never doubted "Terra's Ultimate Triumph among the Stars" she also held a fear of a "fragmented humanity throughout a hostile universe" and a "splintering of the human spirit".
Along with the Sarna Mandate and the Lorix Order, the Korvin Doctrine became a fundamental part of the Capellan Confederation's state philosophies taught to Confederation citizens from early childhood on.
House Liao Chancellors seized up the principles outlined in Alana Korvin DeVall's writings in the mid-twenty-sixth century to justify the supremacy of the Capellan nobility. They also used the doctrine to justify the domination of neighboring star systems. Chancellor Normann Aris used the doctrine in the early twenty-seventh century to justify radical changes in the Capellan Confederation economic system.[2]
