History[edit]

The Last Knights were a mercenary unit consisting of twenty-four BattleMechs and two infantry battalions when the Word of Blake invaded Galatea, led by the elite 47th Shadow Division. By 15 November 3072 they had been reduced to six 'Mechs (including two absorbed from another destroyed mercenary command) and some infantry, and would be whittled down even further despite being joined during their flight by the remnants of Gideon's Gangbusters, yet another mercenary unit (consisting of an Axman and more infantry).[citation needed]

Only the unit's commanding officer, Nevvin Kerris, survived the fighting on Galatea in his Cestus. Kerris and an associate MechWarrior (piloting a Templar) ultimately managed to escape from Galatea on the DropShip Lady Loon on 26 November.[1]
