Galaxy Commander Niels Carns was the commander of Epsilon Galaxy, and Bloodnamed warrior of the Carns Bloodhouse, from at least 3137 to 3151.[1][2][3]

Personal Appearance[edit]

Carns had a muscular frame, and had hair which was alternatively described as black and curly trimmed at the temples,[4] and wavy brown which had been perfectly styled.[5]

History[edit]

Carns led his Galaxy from the Gienah based Iron Keshik as of 3145.[1] At this stage he was not part of Khan Alaric Ward's planning for the capture of Terra, and on 16 June 3145 sought out saKhan Garner Kerensky to argue that Wolf commanders should be able to bid for the most prestigious targets on Terra in accordance with traditional Clan ways, but was rebuffed by Garner who supported the implementation of Alaric's master plan to take the world.[4]

Despite this Carns remained in command of Epsilon Galaxy during the Battle of Terra in 3151, including the Wolves Asian campaign, as well as April's IlClan Trial.[2] During the fighting near Chittagong in Bangladesh against the Republic of the Sphere's Thai Tigers, which was marked by hit-and-run strikes using inferno missiles against Epsilon Galaxy, Carns wanted Epsilon to track down and destroy the Tigers themselves as a matter of honor. He was to his chagrin however overruled by his former subordinate, General Chance Vickers, who insisted a trap be set using all three of Epsilon, Sigma and Gamma Galaxies.[6]

Carns' disagreements with General Vickers continued into February 3151, when he wanted to take his Galaxy to respond to a Republic break out from the Caucasuses, but was again overruled by Vickers who was concerned that rash action would leave the Wolf front vulnerable. Carns' aide, Star Colonel Damon Ward, later explained to Vickers that Carns considered her promotion over him a personal insult, and thus he was focused on seeking personal glory to prove himself.[5] Chance Vickers nevertheless continued to consider Carns a lesser warrior driven by jealously.[7]

Philosophical and/or political views[edit]

Despite being a trueborn and somewhat of a Clan traditionalist, Carns respected freeborn troops under his command, singling out those within the Touman who showed devotion to Clan Wolf's cause with awards such as access to better OmniMechs.[8]

Awards[edit]

As a combatant in the IlClan Trial, Carns was the recipient of the BloodRibbon award, issued by the Third Star League.[2]
