Assigned to the Tukayyid Theater, the renamed pre-Clan Invasion Asta theater or 12 to 1 on the Inner Sphere Clock, after the Battle of Tukayyid, the elite ComGuard 12th Army was stationed in the remains of the Free Rasalhague Republic, placing them in the direct path between a renewed Clan offensive.

History

With the bulk of the 12th Army based in the newly formed Free Rasalhague Republic, its divisions were welcomed by the new nation as a means of helping to stabilize and prevent possible repeats of the Ronin War.

The majority of the Twelfth Army faced the threat of Clan Nova Cat during the Battle of Tukayyid, with the 394th and 278th transferred to bolster the offensives against Clan Jade Falcon and Clan Wolf respectively.

Due to the Clan threat even after the victory on Tukayyid, the 12th underwent massive changes, transferred from normal duty to solely defend the remaining worlds of the Free Rasalhague Republic, basing the bulk of its forces on the depopulated Tukayyid. Precentor Martial Focht transferred and retained among the most elite ranked units in the Com Guards into the Twelfth and added two of divisions reformed after Tukayyid to its roster to return it to the six division level of the pre-Clan Armies. After the end of the Clan Invasion with the Great Refusal and the increasing tensions between the St. Ives Compact and Capellan Confederation, newly invested Precentor Martial Victor Steiner-Davion transferred the 403rd and 321st Divisions to the Fourth Army in 3062. [1]

The situation for the four remaining divisions worsened as inhabitants of the Free Rasalhague Republic believed the need for ComStar's troops had also ceased, despite Clan Wolf's victory in Great Refusal. With the increasing good relations with Clan Ghost Bear and long held fears of a ComStar take-over of the Republic has resulted in the transferring the hatred normally reversed for Mercenary units towards the Com Guards stationed in their realm. ComStar viewed a withdrawal as exposing the Republic to a Wolf Clan assault once the Truce of Tukayyid expired and has increasingly strived to keep the regard of the people it had sworn to protect. [2]

Officers

As of 3050, the Twelfth Army was under the command of Precentor V Anna Landaker.[3]

As of 3067, the 12th Army was under the command of Precentor XI Allian Higham, who took command of the Army after Tukayyid. A consummate planner, the abrasive but well respected Higham is constantly developing strategies to defend the Republic from attacks from the Clans, Lyran Alliance and Draconis Combine, no matter how unlikely the prospect may be.[4][1][2]

Tactics

Due to the Clan threat, the 12th Army boasts some of the Com Guards most elite and battle hardened units, further enhanced by the five WarShips of ComStar WarShip Fleet's First Independent Squadron on permanent station around Tukayyid. [1]
