History

The homeworld of the 39th Avalon Hussars was Newtown Square.[1]

Formation

4th Succession War

The 39th moved to Lee to act as a reserve force, but wasn't called on to engage the CCAF.[2]

War of 3039

The 39th was based on Freedom, along with several other AFFS and LCAF units, as part of a group that would strike in planned later waves of the invasion. Those plans were aborted however, and the 39th would see no action in the War of 3039.[3]

Clan Invasion

The 39th completed several combat resupply missions to resistance forces on Bone-Norman, Somerset, and Black Earth. These efforts, though successful, cost the 39th about a third of its DropShips.[1] They sortied from their homeworld of Newtown Square to make these supply runs.[4]

Operations Guerrero and Bulldog

The 39th Avalon Hussars didn't participate in either of these operations.[citation needed]

Civil War

The 39th allied with Victor Steiner-Davion, but didn't relocate to the Federated Suns. On Newtown Square, they split into several smaller hunter teams. When the 14th Donegal Guards arrived, the 39th led them on a chase across the world. The 39th regrouped and fought the 14th, facing destruction at the Lyran unit's guns, but the timely arrival of the 244th Division allowed Victor Steiner-Davion and the 39th to take the 14th Donegal prisoner. Victor stripped the 14th of their transport assets and gave them to the 39th, leaving the 14th in place on Newtown Square to defend against the Clans.[5] The 39th used their new JumpShips to land on Coventry, where they destroyed the 1st Coventry Jaegers[6] Shortly thereafter they linked up with the 6th Crucis Lancers and took control of Alarion.[7] Once relieved by the 7th Crucis Lancers they went to Tharkad to support Peter Steiner-Davion in the Lyran Alliance.[8] Though they didn't take part in the final battle of Tharkad, they did remain in orbit as reserve troops.[9] [10] They later returned to the Federated Suns and were stationed on Wernke-Talon.[11]

Jihad

The Blackwind Lancers destroyed the 39th on Wernke-Talon with several thermonuclear strikes.[12]

Officers

In 3025 the unit is commanded by Marshal Saunders DuCrimmon.[13]

3050 found Hauptmann General Bella Bragg in charge of the Thirty-ninth.[4] She was still in command in 3062, holding the rank of Major General.[1]

Tactics

The fast scout units go out and search the enemy formation. When detected a series of raids begin to seed chaos and give the main force enough time to gather for the final assault.[1]
