History[edit]

The Fox-class corvette Admiral Michael Saille was under construction in 3062 and was expected to launch in 3065,[1] and subsequently ended up fighting as a part of the Federated Suns black water navy during the FedCom Civil War. The Admiral Michael Saille was one of twelve Fox-class WarShips to remain in service with the AFFS after the devastation of the Civil War.[2]

Serving as a part of the allied coalition, the FSS Admiral Micahel Saille was one of the Federated Suns WarShips to join in Operation SCOUR, the liberation of the Word of Blake Protectorate, and would fight all the way to Terra. Serving as a part of Task Force EARTHBOUND in 3078 the Admiral Michael Saille was directly involved in the battle for Terra itself.[3] During the battle Vice Admiral Walker Clay, Commanding Officer of the Fox-class corvette Indomitable, disobeyed orders and tried to destroy the WoBS Beneficence, formerly the Avalon-class cruiser FCS Melissa Davion, which had been captured and suborned by the Word of Blake. Clay ordered Rear Admiral Marcelle of the Admiral Michael Saille to follow, and the Indomitable's first officer was shot and killed while attempting to remove Clay from command. Clay's actions cost Task Force EARTHBOUND part of its missile defense cover and the Clan Diamond Shark Potemkin-class carrier CDS Red Tide was struck and destroyed by multiple nuclear warheads. The Indomitable was lost with nearly a ninety percent loss of life (although Walker Clay survived) and the Admiral Saille was critically damaged, with Rear Admiral Marcelle killed during the battle.[4]

The FSS Admiral Michael Saille was one of only four Federated Suns WarShips to survive the Jihad and remain under the control of the AFFS. As of 3079 the Admiral Michael Saille was stationed in the New Avalon system to defend the Federated Suns capital world alongside the last surviving Federated Suns Avalon-class cruiser, the FSS Lucien Davion, although the Admiral Michael Saille was still undergoing repairs as a result of damage taken during the liberation of Terra.[5]

By 3145, the Lucien Davion had been lost in the Palmyra Disaster, and the Michael Saille was the Federated Suns' last WarShip and was assigned to the space defense of New Avalon against the imminent assault by Draconis Combine forces, along with a supporting fleet of Pocket WarShips and Assault DropShips.[6] The DCMS attacked New Avalon in July 3146, overwhelming the defensive fleet and making planetfall mostly intact.[7] When Julian Davion launched Operation DAWN in 3151 to retake the world, the Michael Saille was not present, with only JumpShips and DropShips comprising the fleet.[8]
