One of the Ascended Manei Domini, Belial (real name unknown) was the Precentor in the command of Word of Blake's 42nd Shadow Division, nicknamed Belial’s Angels of Chaos.

Overview

Belial was first publicly sighted when the Forty-Second assisted the Blakist 29th Division assault the Draconis Combine world of Pesht in February 3071, devastating the defenders with bio and nuclear attacks. [1]

In November of the same year, Belial passed on to Apollyon an intercepted recording of an October 3071 Clan Nova Cat council meeting indicating the Nova Cat was emerging from isolation to support Devlin Stone, recommending to measures be taken against them. [2] While Belial led the bulk of the 42nd in assisting the Blakist's "liberation" of the Combine capital of Luthien, in June 3072 elements of the division using Pocket WarShips and unsuccessfully masquerading as DCMS forces launched an partially successful nuclear attack on the Nova Cat's capital of Irece, provoking them to target the 42nd. [3]

The Nova Cat's Xi Galaxy arrived in orbit around Luthien and declared a Trial of Annihilation against Belial's unit in mid July. During their assault, Belial engaged Clan Nova Cat forces within the Nagasaki community zone, of the Crane district on Luthien on 21 August, 3072. He is presumed to have commanded several other Blakist MechWarriors, including Demi-Precentor Eric Hughes, against a Nova Cat OmniMech, an SM1 hovercraft and a binary of troops embedded in a mechanical shop. It is unknown what he himself piloted.[4] While Belial's troops and the 9th Division both suffered heavy losses, the Forty-Second turned the battle when they used six nuclear missiles on the Nova Cat.

Remaining on Luthien, the Belial and the 42nd felt the full force of the Ghost Bears's Alpha, Omega, and Rho Galaxies assault in December 3074. While able to inflict heavy damage on both Alpha and Rho Galaxies, the outnumbered Shadow Division eventually fell to the enraged Bears. However, while none of the 42nd were believed to survive the Bears assault, there was no formal confirmation of Belial's death.[5]
