Planetary History
Prior to the Jihad, Clipperton was a member of the three-world Principality of Gibson. When forces from the Principality of Regulus attacked Clipperton and the nearby Gibson Principality world of Molokai on the 1st of May 3078, the local forces on Clipperton tentatively welcomed the Regulans as liberators.[6] The Word of Blake responded by broadcasting footage of the Regulan Hussars using tactical nuclear devices on Futuna, Newcastle and Norfolk in 3077, an act that tarred both Hussars regiments with the very same brush the Blakists had been tarred with, resulting in the Hussars not being greeted as liberators by the civilian population, but instead provoking protests and riots. When protestors set up a burning barricade outside the barracks the Hussars were using, the two regiments found themselves having to actively deploy infantry in riot gear.[1]
