Description

Baffling the Inner Sphere powers as to how a mere Periphery state could develop an OmniFighter when it first appeared, the Corax is the Outworlds Alliance's first OmniFighter design, named in honor of their bond of friendship with Clan Snow Raven, whose technical expertise made it possible.

While mounting standard armor, the use of an XL Engine frees up 9 tons of pod space for weapons, though like many OmniFighters pod space comes at the cost of heat sinks, with only ten Double Heat Sinks on its base chassis. [4] [5]

Armament

The primary configuration mounts a Large Pulse Laser in the nose supported by two wing-mounted Medium Lasers. It provides quite a close-range punch for a light fighter, ideal for strafing runs, but lacks aft weaponry. [4]

Alternate Configurations

  • Alt Config A - The A configuration is a short ranged, ammo-dependent dogfighter, mounting an SRM-6 in each wing with a total of two tons of reloads. To prevent attack from behind, two Small Lasers are mounted aft. BV (1.0) = 749[4] (689)[6] BV(2.0)=734[7]
  • Alt Config B - A laser-based dogfighter, the B config carries twin Medium Pulse Lasers in the nose, supported by two standard medium lasers in each wing, with twin small lasers mounted aft.[4] BV (1.0) = 1,016 [1][8] BV(2.0)=1,054[9]
  • Alt Config C - An unusual ground suppression variant, the C config's sole weapon is an MRM-20 sourced from the Draconis Combine, supplied by two tons of missile reloads. [4] BV (1.0) = 752 [1] (668)[10] BV(2.0)=732[11]
  • Alt. Config. D - This configuration carries a nose mounted LRM-10 and a Medium Laser in each wing. BV(2.0)=870[12]
  • Alt. Config. R - This configuration uses Clan built weaponry in the standard Inner Sphere level frame. The nose mounts a trio of Clan built ER Medium Lasers, while each wing carries a Clan built Streak SRM-4. To help with targeting, the R configuration uses an advanced Targeting Computer. BV(2.0)=1,667[13]
