The world of Ferris is very similar to Terra despite some remarkable differences within the Ferris star system itself. Ferris was the second planet in a star system of six worlds, not the third like Earth, with five rocky-terrestrial worlds and one gas giant orbiting far beyond the inner worlds. There was a mineral rich asteroid belt between the fifth and sixth worlds, The Outworlds Alliance had set up an asteroid mining operation with a processing station and worker habitats. Ferris was slightly bigger than Earth with its gravity 1.04G compared to Earths 1G, so things were a little heavier. The locals joked the extra weight caused by the slightly heavier gravity was the "Ex-Wife Effect."  Ferris had no moon so it spun perfectly upright on its axis, thus it did not have seasons such as Earth has, instead it only had summer and winter. It was also a slightly colder world with its hottest regions in the equator only reaching into the high 70 degrees temperatures. Its highest animal life form was reptiles, with the largest only being as large as a Terran- house cat. There was a full thriving ecosystem of arthropods and reptiles on the land masses and a diversity of sea life in the shallow oceans. The plant life was similar to Earths, with the largest plants being bushes and massive ferns, trees had not evolved yet on Ferris. However there were massive man-planted forests of both hardwoods and softwoods all over the world in huge plantations. There were also extensive grasslands across the planet and a ring of tundra around each of Ferris's polar caps. there was also one feature unique to Ferris, An airborn algae called simply, " Aerial Algae," or the Aerigae as the locals called. It was an air born floating form of algae that  was distributed throughout the planets atmosphere. This gave Ferris a greenish sky instead of a blue sky, and with its G6V class sun that was slightly more yellow than ours, the sunsets were a deep emerald. So it was much like our Earth but very different at the same time. Ferris was colonized in the late 2300's during the Age of War in an attempt to leave the war torn early Inner Sphere nations. The Clans had taken the world easily from the overmatched Ferris Guards, existing of one company of twelve ageing battlemechs.  The planet had over 50 million civilians and huge areas of agriculture so it was considered a combination population-agriculture world by Wolf Clan strategists. There were three main continents, Wiener Riesenrad covered with grassland and scrub brush home to large farming collectives, with only two major cities, it stretched from pole to pole. Tempozan, where the capital city of Chicago was located, was more temperate than the other two. It received the heaviest rainfall so most of the huge Tree-farms were situated on it, along with most of the worlds population. And Finally Diakanransha, A hot jungle covered continent it easily reached the planets hottest temperatures and it only reached the southern pole with one of the shallow oceans stretching around to the other one. Far to the south a desert bordered the jungle it reached lower to the southern polar cap arctic region. All three land masses were only separated by three shallow oceans that stretched from pole to pole in  long ribbons across the face of the planet with two of them connected across the Diakanransha continent.

Planetary History

Reunification War

Ferris didn't attract significant attention from the Star League and Draconis Combine forces during Operation UNION HOLD, the five-year campaign from 2581 to 2585 intended to forcibly incorporate the Outworlds Alliance into the Star League. Other nearby worlds such as Banori and Loparri were subject to damaging raids by Star League forces, acting under orders from the Outworlds Alliance Task Force commander, General Amos Forlough, to defeat the will and means of the Alliance to resist by targeting towns, cities and infrastructure on worlds across the Alliance. Ferris may well have been a target for such a raid as well given the systematic manner in which SLDF forces were attacking Alliance worlds, but the pivotal battle now known as the Day of Vengeance fought on the nearby mining world of Tellman IV stopped the Star League raids indefinitely.[28] After the Treaty of Cerberus came into effect on the 1st of August 2585, Ferris remained a member of the Outworlds Alliance.[4][5][29]

- At this point in time, the 3rd Alliance Air Wing were deployed across Ferris, Tellman IV and Valasha. The 3rd Alliance Air Wing was at 90% of full strength.

Ferris was also the location of an AGDA training facility for militia MechWarriors[32], armor personnel, and conventional infantry. The AGDA Ferris location was also not enamored of the Snow Raven's presence in the Alliance, and had cut a lot of ties with their fellow training facilities.[1]
