The FCS Indomitable was the second corvette of the Fox-class WarShips to be constructed by the Federated Commonwealth.[2] The Indomitable continued to serve in the Armed Forces of the Federated Commonwealth[3] and became a part of the Federated Suns black water navy during the FedCom Civil War. The Indomitable was one of twelve Fox-class WarShips to remain in service with the AFFS after the devastation of the Civil War.[4]
During the later years of the Jihad the FSS Indomitable joined the allied coalition and took part in Operation SCOUR, the liberation of the Word of Blake Protectorate; the Indomitable even took part in the battle for Terra itself in 3078, serving alongside her sister ship the FSS Admiral Michael Saille in Task Force EARTHBOUND.[5] During the battle Vice Admiral Walker Clay, Commanding Officer of the Indomitable, disobeyed orders and tried to destroy the WoBS Beneficence, formerly the Avalon-class cruiser FCS Melissa Davion, which had been captured and suborned by the Word of Blake. Clay ordered Rear Admiral Marcelle of the Admiral Michael Saille to follow, and the Indomitable's first officer was shot and killed while attempting to remove Clay from command. Clay's actions cost Task Force EARTHBOUND part of its missile defense cover and the Clan Diamond Shark Potemkin-class carrer DCS Red Tide was struck and destroyed by multiple nuclear warheads.
